The objective of the international theological symposium planned by the Congregation of Bishops in 2021, presented to the press by Cardinal Marc Ouellet, was ahead of the times of keeping up with the times and of synodality.
Currently there is a basic problem such as the priest’s “holiness”, which is stained by grotesque situations that have nothing to do with the religious mission.
The “walking together”, an expression that is usually used to define synodality, has nothing external or sociological, but expresses the intimate adherence to the Body of Christ which is the Church on its historical journey towards Consummation.
The modern priest is distinguished from the normal priest because he is convinced that by changing something, thanks to his intelligence and well-known sympathy with him, everyone will return to church and be saved.
When the priest becomes a one man show, the mass is his show. Woe, therefore, to contradict him. He may personally resent it. The liturgical drift shows no signs of stopping and descends more and more towards the abyss of personalism. Everyone does what he wants, regardless of the fact that ministers are entrusted with a very lofty task: to guard sacred things and communicate Jesus.
