The cat has proved to be a true life partner, helping in 67% of cases to cope with stress and relieving loneliness.
Over 1,400 people (almost 90% of pet owners who answered are women) have told their experiences in the two years of the pandemic: thanks to the longer time spent together and the physical proximity, the cat has proved more affectionate: it has taken take care of her, and she of him. In returning to normality, mutual research and attention does not diminish, rather it intensifies, the emblem of a deep bond.
From the more than 1,400 interviews conducted, a picture of great affection, complicity and mutual attention emerges, in which the cat proves to be a real life partner at times a bit psychologist: The cat becomes a precious ally.
In the difficult moment of the pandemic, the cat not only was not affected by any states of greatest concern of its cat lover, but it even played a positive role in his daily life.
The role went far beyond that of a simple “pet”. The cat lover relied on him and he was able to brighten the days by giving funny moments (26%), and improving states of loneliness (34%) and stress (33%).
From the research data emerges a portrait of those who worked from home interacting with the feline that walks on the keyboard during zoom calls or illegally occupying the mouse.
In 50% of cases, respondents with one or more cats found themselves, while working, with their 4-legged friend curled up on their legs (36%) or lying on the keyboard (21%).
But if on the one hand these requests arrived at the least opportune moments have complicated the working life a little, it is equally true that proportional to the attention received was the reciprocal affection: 50%, up to 55% among those who do not have dogs or has only one cat.
The greater coexistence has led to the knowledge of their cat, so much so that over 40% have learned to understand more easily the needs and moods of this cat.
At the same time, awareness of how important it is to have him in their lives has also increased: 19% admit that they can no longer do without him.
During smartworking, the relationship between cat lover and your cat is strongly strengthened: so much has been received from him and now he is reciprocated with the same affection, care and attention.
With the gradual return to the new normal, different strategies are adopted to make the cat relax in his absence, from letting him play with anti-stress (30%) to the foresight to leave him objects with their own smell (23%).
